Hong Kong Future Pioneers 2025
Our theme this year is “Good Health and Well-being: Blueprinting the Modern Public Health”. Responding to the
third Sustainable Development Goal from the World Health Organisation (WHO) – Good Health and Well-being,
we wish to promote healthy lifestyles, preventive measures and modern, efficient healthcare for everyone. Public
health is defined to be “the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through the
organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private, communities and
individuals”. From Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), to
obesity and sexually transmitted disease, these challenges together bring negative social impacts to Hong Kong
from past to now. Although with advancements in technology and changes in the way of living for millennials and
‘Generation Z’ that the overall average living age and health level have been increasing, accumulation of ignoring
daily unhealthy behaviors and having bias of diseases raise problems to both personal health and social welfare in
long term.
